Regular Rick (aka Rick Beresford) is a Cairns based artist, curator and arts educator who works across a variety of mediums and disciplines. With an emphasis on social inclusion and collaborative processes his practice frequently engages others in the developmental and fabrication stages of art production.
He holds a Bachelor of Education and also First class Honours from James Cook University in Cairns. He is an admired teacher who has worked at schools in Lockhart River, Yarrabah and regularly fills contract positions at Cairns State High.
Regular Rick has been part of and facilitated many exhibitions that bring artists together. Last year he staged the mammoth With Others exhibition, the outcome of year-long individual collaborations with over fifty other visual artists, songwriters, musicians and filmmakers. He recently produced Cuddle Crew for the Cairns Festival and Up Beat school Holiday program at Tanks Arts Centre.
Over the last three years running The Flying Monkey Cafe he has presented a new exhibition, of mainly local artists’ work, every three weeks.
